Abstract
Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) represents a heterogeneous group of diseases which is very rare in children. The authors experienced IHES (Idiopathic HES) in a 22-month-old child who presented with skin manifestations. He first visited out-patient clinic due to skin pustules and rash on palms and soles. His general condition was good except for itching sense on skin manifestations. On the lab finding, total eosinophil count was elevated and other labs showed nonspecific findings including parasite, allergy and immunology studies. We have taken the biopsy on the skin manifestations and it was consistent with IHES. He treated with oral steroid and the skin manifestations disappeared. We report a case of IHES with skin manifestations which clinically well responded to oral steroid without improvement of hematologic findings.
